SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School,Pettavaithalai in Trichirappalli District of Tamilnadu in India achieved 100 % results in Public Examination conducted for X standard. The School Principal Mrs.Chitra Balasubramaniam congratulated the School toppers and all those students passed in this Examination of 2012-13.The the teachers those taught the students were appreciated by the Principal. The staff members were encouraged by the principal and to focus further on areas needing improvement so they can make changes to better support student learning in the years to come. The teachers assured that they will work hard in teaching pupils for them to get state ranks and more hundreds in the subjects the students appear for the Public Examination during the year 2014.According to Mrs.Chitra, each class in the School receives an overall accountability score and a rating.  The Principal said, in general, student achievement in SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School was on par with the rest of the Schools in cities and metros, which was much higher than the state average. The good news included the fact that achievement gaps were narrower in many areas. “Getting good marks in 10th exam is very important because it will be in students’ history of life. Academic growth was shown to be higher than average in many areas,” The Principal said. “SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School pass rate was 100% which was higher than the State average. The SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School is already involved in many efforts to improve student achievement”.Mrs.Chitra said ,”the school includes the Response to Intervention framework, designed to identify students who need additional help in attaining 100 % marks in the current curriculum.  Essentially, students are identified as needing an intervention through test scores, grades, attendance data or behavioral issues. Once the students are identified, the school works closely with the student and family to offer additional supports. The progress of the student is monitored and adjustments made as needed until the student is totally successful.The instructional technology and intervention technology are being integrated into all classrooms. Principal Chitra said “Measure of Academic Progress, testing is being used to monitor student academic growth. Students take the tests several times per year to ensure that each student is growing as expected.  Results from these tests are shared with students and families. Students who are not growing as expected are offered additional supports. “Staff members are currently redesigning our teaching technique to align with the curriculum.  The standards are helpful in that they will require students to use higher-order thinking skills in applying knowledge; the previous standards were much more knowledge-based. The SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School raises the expectations for all students to achieve to a higher level, making them better prepared for any post-high school choices.”-Govin
