Site for auditorium at Srirangam inspected

Tourism and Culture Department Secretary V.K.Jeyakodi on Tuesday inspected various places in Srirangam. Mr.Jeyakodi inspected the place where an auditorium is to be constructed in the Singaperumal Temple premises. Mr.Jeyakodi inspected the site where a yatri nivas is to be constructed at a cost of Rs.36.4 crore on an eight acre land belonging to the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Panchakarai. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had laid the foundation for the construction of a yatri nivas during her visit to Srirangam in June. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan accompanied the secretary to Government for Tourism and Culture Department. Trichy Corporation Commissioner Veeraraghava Rao, MLA R.Manoharan, Deputy Director Gunasekaran,Trichy District Public Relation Officer,Muthusamy and officials of HR and CE and Tourism departments accompanied the Secretary.
Noted Tamil scholar and Writer V.Jawahar Arumugam opined that the Srirangam town needs a public hall for hosting dramas and other cultural programmes. The stage needs to have full-fledged facilities on a par with the noted big Sabhas in city like Chennai. V.Jawahar Arumugam appreciates the efforts taken by Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Ms.J.Jayalalithaa for providing opportunity to the art lovers of the central region of the state in witnessing some rare and much talked about plays and three arts forms such as Iyal, Isai and Drama. “The Government needs to design the stage with adequate acting space. Such a facility in Srirangam will immensely help in the restoration of glory and revival of livelihood for the artistes”, Drama Director Muthuvelalagar said.Govin
