NSS Students reach out rural areas with comprehensive approach of awareness creation

A week-long special camp of NSS unit of Savithiri Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Trichy concluded at Arumbuhalnagar community centre premises on Saturday,the 8th October 2011. During the camp, 25 NSS volunteers organised health, sanitation and education awareness programmes in the rural areas of Pettavaithalai area,. Volunteers told the villagers about family planning, environmental hygiene, cleanliness, safe drinking water and sanitation and also presented street plays on these issues. The Head Mistress of the School said “It is necessary that individuals work for society and both move together and she further urged the NSS volunteers to continue performing social service”. The NSS Students take pride in our cultural heritage and believe in eco friendliness and green concepts, the primary need of the hour. The NSS unit of Savithiri Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Trichy organized sports for the SEVAI-SSA-SRBC Kids of Arumbuhalnagar those are intellectually challenged with varying degrees of functioning share common behavioral and psychomotor characteristics. A specially designed sports approach in consultation with the special educators of SEVAI was designed and organized with positive social attitude. This social attitude displayed by the NSS Students of equality and acceptance played a major role in their successful inclusion in students’ society. -Govin
