overhead tank for providing drinking water around 2000 students and the
associated population and further said, “Access to safe drinking water and
adequate sanitation facilities ensures improved health of the people and
protect them, particularly the children, from a number of water and sanitation
related diseases. Schools are places where children actively stay for most of
the day time and therefore for healthy and conducive learning environment,
children need safe water for drinking and hand washing, and safe and
friendly-to-use sanitation facilities. Improved
health and quality learning is
not possible without adequate water and sanitation facilities in schools.
School children who have no access to safe water and sanitation have more
chances to suffer from water and sanitation related diseases. Lack of safe
water and sanitation facilities turn schools into unsafe places where diseases
are transmitted with mutually reinforcing negative impacts on the children,
their families, communities and overall development. SEVAI Shanthi
Matriculation Higher Secondary School provides excellent opportunities to
support sanitation and hygiene promotion program. Such as child friendly
sanitary facilities like hand washing, providing soaps and toilets which is effective
in reducing the incidence of diarrhea. SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher
Secondary School also provides an arena where sanitation is shown at its best,
and certain positive hygienic behaviors and it can become an engrained habit at
a young age. SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School focus
resources on improving the health of school-aged children, highlighting the
need for hygiene promotion, life skills development and water, sanitation and
hand-washing All children of SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary
