Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School Team of Pettavaithalai with the support of OFI,believes that
working together with families and community in collaborative and respectful
relationships plays a paramount role in children’s education and their
development. That's why we ,SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary
School team, Pettavaithalai organized today(29th Feb 2020) an
opening session with the parents from
Lower Kinder Garten and teachers to

permit them having an exposure to the
Montessori method and activities. We
were really glad to welcome in total
65 parents (on 81 children). The Montessori activities were disposed on
benches under the auditorium. All the students respectively demonstrated their
parents the process of each activity immersed in a calm environment. Then, all
parents joined their children to share this learning experience. At
the end, they were impressed about the ability of their children to stay focus
during all

the activity, especially when it comes to a precise and careful
hands-on. It was also an excellent exchange opportunity between the
parents, the students and the teachers. The parents appreciated the
explanations of the teachers and the teachers showed satisfaction on this
interchange.
They
all testified the improvement of their children’s capacity for self-regulation
and independence in their daily practice. Some parents were amazed by the
significant gain in autonomy. They all gave the example

of the mat and their
habits to put everything in the right order. They surely testified that the
method enhanced their daily routine gestures.
The
aim of the day was to combine the proven methodology of Montessori education
and expose the parents to a deeper knowledge on their children's education.
Both parents and teachers thought it was a wonderful and successful morning.
They were all really thankful! Next Saturday, it will be the turn of
