Science is a powerful way of understanding and investigating the world. Science exhibitions were conducted as they serve as a perfect platform for the students to improve their skills in Science and exhibit their scientific temperament and it promote knowledge of science and technology and develop critical thinking about global issues. Various competitions like elocution, essay writing, quiz, science drama, songs and dance were conducted on this occasion by SEVAI Shanthi Matric.Higher Secondary School. Green energy named the theme for the Physics exhibition; several interesting models were displayed at all levels. Wind mills, solar cars, solar houses, light-sensitive devices, etc. Several live activities were also performed by students some of which were the working of the, efficiency and strength of frictional force, pressure exerted by water, atmospheric pressure etc. All the working models and activities were highly appreciated by the visitors as amply received in remarks left behind. The theme Green energy entailed most of the exhibits being based on harnessing natural resources as potential energy producers. The students demonstrated an innovative way to make homemade non-toxic cleaning solutions, a great success with both parents and students. Biogas is one of the most promising fuels in this day of depleting resources. Students constructed a model bio-gas plant showing how easy it is to produce renewable energy resources. The comfortable atmosphere and amicable staff provided a homely ambiance. This event brought added widespread recognition and goodwill for the school.-Govin

Thottiyapatty SEVAI/OFI/SG-project provides life skills to rural children in Evening coaching classes.Thottiyapatty SEVAI comprehensive watershed project as supported by OFI/SG implements not only water /soil conservation Projects but also provide learning opportunities to rural children especially girl children protection. Children are the asset for future of a family and a country. Educational progress of rural disadvantaged children holds the key to the progress of the country. It is the children’ fundamental right with Quality education. High Cost of is one of the largest obstacles for children in rural communities such as Thottiyapatty. The main objective of this program is to provide evening tuition classes after the school hours to young students who are poor and could not afford education. SEVAI provides free Spoken English Classes and Rural Evening Coaching Classes with the support of OF/SG. SEVAI supports and empowers the most vulnerable children providing protection from child abuse and mistreatment by so called neighbours. This supplementary education to rural children of Thottiyapatty brings them up to an academic level. This SEVAI/OFI/Society General provides rural children to have access to free tuition at the Evening classes established in Thottiyapatty Village. These centers are established basically to enhance the school experience of the village children by providing them assistance in completing their homework, clarifying their doubts in their subjects, paying more attention to weaker subjects of the children. The children also learn life skills like functional English, eco-protection, cultural activities and participate in sports and games as well as awareness on tree planting, cleanliness, promotion of kitchen gardening, good habitual practices, toilet usage, etc.-Govin

SEVAI Shanthi Matric Higher Secondary School observed National Girl Child Day on 24th January as National Girl Child Day on the theme of ‘Adolescent Girls: The School principal while speaking to adolescent girls spoke that adolescence is a critical phase in a girl’s life when she is on the doorstep of womanhood and the needs and concerns such as health, nutrition and education are to be attended to. She spoke about the fact that gender discrimination and conditioning, which starts from childhood itself, takes root in the minds of boys, as well as, girls and has long term consequences, therefore, it is important that it should be addressed early. She also appreciated the efforts of Gramium for bringing out an awareness short film “Akkam Pakkam”with the message on Committed to actively preventing child abuse with strong action against culprit who is associated with the family who abuses a child. “Girl child must grow up in the company of parents’- emphasized by Gramium P.Narayanan while speaking on the occasion of the observance of National Girl Child Day in Chennai. National Girl Child Day was observed by Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO) at the Jeevana Jothi Hall in Chennai. A 30-minute film titled “Akkam Pakkam”, produced by a Karur based NGO, Gramium.This film describes” the warning to parents and public at large how their girl children could be sexually abused by the strangers and neighbours and gives a message to parents to listen to their girl children what do they want to say; and it would prevent them from strangers and other relatives those have proximity to girl children which to prevent sex abuse on the girls children. Ahalya, a primary school child is the center of attention of Akkam Pakkam short film; she had been abused by a neighbor, a married young man as Child Ahalya’s parents leave the child at the care of this married young man, their neighbour to take care of their child, and go for outing. The parents also often scuffle each other in the presence of the child Ahalya. The unreliable neighbor abuses the child and consequently he kills the child Ahalya. Towards the end of film the police killed the culprit neighbor in an encounter. S Gomathinayagam, additional advocate general, Madras High Court, appealed the society at large take care of their girl child and the parents are protect the child from all sorts of abuses from the surroundings. The teachers should not beat up the child and it is sad to know that some teachers are also accused of abusing girl children of the Primary level schools too. Hariharan of Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO) mentioned,
"National girl child day is celebrated every year on 24th of January since 2008 as a national observance day for the girl child. The purpose of this day is to focus attention on the depleting female to male ratio and take a stand on issues of female foeticide, domestic violence and malnutrition in children.
It is celebrated to increase the awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society, which includes many areas like inequality in education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, protection, honour, elimination of child marriage.prevention of sexual abuse  and so many".Hariharan congratulated Gramium Narayanan for bring out a short film on the message of prevention of sexual abuse of young girl children,titled "Akkam Pakkam".P Narayanan, director of Gramium, expressed that the boarding schools should take optimum care for girl children and avoid the risk of abuse. “It is important that a child must grow up in the company of parents.The girl child  must be given equal treatments and opportunities from the very beginning” to expand the opportunities for them.National Girl Child Day observance would increase the consciousness of the people on taking care of girl child and offer new opportunities to the girl child in the society and  remove all the inequalities faced by the girl children in our society and to  ensure that the girl children are getting their all the human rights in the country and to propagate the gender equality among people in India".
