Senior News correspondent V.Ganapathy honoured by TDPC |
National Press Day was observed
at the Trichirappalli District press club (TDPC) at its headquarters in Trichirappalli
on Friday, the16th of November, 2012. Tiruchirapalli District
Press Club President A.J.Bhaskaran presided over the function. Press club General Secretary
L.Shawnawazkhan in his introductory address said the
national press day is emblematic of an open and conscientious
press to ensure to maintain the high standards expected from this powerful
medium as there was a need that the press as fourth estate to bring out the tribulations and the anguish of the poor

journalist J.Shanu felicitated the gathering. The functionaries of Trichirappalli
District press club visited the residences of senior veteran News
correspondents and press men: Govindasamy, V.Ganapathy, Jayaprakash and Pannerselvam those served
decades as outstanding senior pressmen in Dinamalar, The Hindu, Dinakaran and
Malaimurasu respectively for decades. At their elderly age, they were honoured
with ponnadai and sweets and the Trichirappalli District press
club functionaries appreciated the services rendered as senior pioneers in print
media. These veteran journalists blessed the present functionaries of TDPC for
remembering and honouring them on National
Press Day. In an exclusive interview to Etram News correspondent, TDPC Secretary L.Shawnawazkhan said, “the responsibility of the electronic media is even
greater because with the modern technical advancements it crosses the barriers
of illiteracy and inaccessibility to reach the citizens in the remotest corner
of the country and that print media is particularly important in the fourth limb of
democracy”. It is worth mentioning that TDPC Secretary L.Shawnawazkhan is the recipient of Siddhartha
Journalists Award for the year 2010.-Govin
