country and the very foundation of society” Mrs.B.Chitra, Principal of SEVAI Matriculation
Higher Secondary School in Pettavaithalai said while addressing the gathering
on the occasion of children’s day observed by this school in its premises on
the 14th November 2012.Children's Day has been observed in SEVAI
Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Pettavaithalai, dedicating
this day to children to celebrate childhood and promote awareness about
children's rights and welfare. This Children's Day celebration aims to promote
the wellbeing of children and to uplift their social rights. Children's Day
coincides with the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru), first Prime Minister
of India after Independence, and so observed in a grand way. This celebration
commemorates Jawaharlal Nehru for his affection towards children and faith that
education of children could propel the country's progress. Nehru Mama as the
children fondly referred to him, was fond of both children and roses. In fact
he often compared the two, saying that children were like the buds in a garden.
They should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they were the future of the
nation and the citizens of tomorrow. He felt that children are the real
strength of a country and the very foundation of society. He was the ‘beloved’
of all the children who gave him the endearing name of ‘Nehru Mama’.SEVAI
Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated Children's Day with a
range of cultural events and child oriented play activities as a festival. Dance
