6. A serious effort should be made to achieve Education for all through
a coordinated effort by organizations’, educationists and volunteers, Mr.P.Rajadurai
Michael, a senior citizen and social activist, said in his Presidential speech.
Giving away the Malcolm Adiseshiah awards, instituted by the South Zone Board
of Continuing Education in recognition of rural community outreach program, at
a function here today, the Dr.Mrs.K.Meena,Vice Chancellor of Bharathidassan
University appreciated the awardees for reaching the poorest of the poor in
their respective field. For every success of an Individual, the individual’s
family needs to support the person to reach the neediest population through
their services. Computer Literacy and Village knowledge centre initiated two
decades backs was very supportive for knowledge connectivity to rural areas and
it continues supporting Literacy and continuing Education program. K.Govindaraju,
Chairman, South Zone Board of Continuing Education, said the Malcolm Adiseshiah
award was given in recognition of the contribution for the community
out-reaches and knowledge connectivity contribution made for the welfare of
poor and needy in the areas of Equivalency Education, Quality of life improvement,
livelihood promotion and Individual interest Program. The awards for the year
2012-13 were given to eminent personalities and institutions. The institution
award was given to GVN Hospitals Trichy, the individual awards to Dr.Vijayaragavan,
Regional Deputy Director, Song and Drama Division, Chennai, Mrs.A.M.S.Muthu Mala
Devi and to the Organic farmer, N.Gopalakrishnan of Karur District. Film actor
Rajesh felicitated. Earlier Trichy District Youth Coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra,
K.Subramanian welcomed the gathering and former Deputy Director of I &B,
Therasanathan proposed vote of thanks.-Govin
