Equal
Health provides quality health care in remote villages. Villages are e provided
with health services. Equal Health Camps is a special initiative to provide
healthcare services to meet the health care needs of the marginalized community
in remote rural areas through annual health care camps. Health camps are
organized extensively in rural areas by Equal Health in collaboration with
SEVAI- NGO offering comprehensive health services consultations for curative,
preventive, promotive and referral, to a large number of people in selected
intervention areas of
Trichirapalli and Karur Districts of Tamilnadu.27
professional health workers of Mufti-disciplinary projects include General Health
care, pediatric, ophthalmology and physio and occupational therapy services etc.
Duration of Equal Health Camps are organized for two weeks in mid February
every year in rural areas. Free optical are distributed to the needy persons
after eye testing for vision. The uniqueness of the model lies in its
comprehensive approach where health promotion and prevention are given equal
importance while
curative care is administered. Equal Health in association
with SEVAI NGO, has been organizing these health camps consecutively at Trichy
and Karur districts of Tamilnadu. 5000 people benefit from it every year. Special
arrangements are made to provide free accommodation and food for poor patients
and local health assistants as well as the visitors. These are small duration
camps organized on the basis of health needs of a specific location. These
health camps aim at promoting health seeking behaviour in the long term
and
thus, unlike a general curative health camp, these camps also
largely work on
building awareness regarding common ailments, nutrition and hygiene and
sanitation. These camps provide comprehensive health services free of any cost.-Govin
