SEVAI Shanthi Matric Higher Secondary
School promotes Cultural heritage by organizing the value based cultural events
of the school and it can provide an
automatic sense of unity and belonging
within a group and allows us to better understand previous generations and the
history of where we come from. The benefit that comes from preserving cultural
heritage as a whole is the communal support.
Cultural
program shapes the way we see the world. It therefore has the capacity to bring
about the change of attitudes needed to ensure peace and sustainable
development which, we know, form the only possible way forward for life. Those
that identify strongly with a certain heritage are often more likely to help
out others in that same community. Cultural heritage is made up of many things
large and small. We can see it through the cultural events organized by local
school population. Culture can be perceived through natural sources as well:

associated with it. It is preserved through books,
cultural events. Artifacts, objects, pictures, photographs, art, and oral
tradition. Cultural heritage is in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and
the skills we learn. Cultural events help explain the process of finding and
incorporating culture into our lives. Itbegins with understanding the culture.
Only then may we begin to value it. From there, we can learn to care for a
culture and eventually enjoy it. With more enjoyment, we will want to learn and
understand more and so the circle goes. The cultural events enacted in SEVAI Shanthi Matric Higher
Secondary School depicts
the culture of a community significantly shapes debate and action that lead to
development. Local culture also presents unique options for locally based
economic, social, and other developments. Local understandings and
interpretations of a community's history reflect past events that feed into and
are partially driven by the demands, sentiments, and interests of those in the
present. This makes it crucial for community development practitioners to
consider the cultural importance of efforts to improve local well-being. By practicing
cultural events incorporating unique cultural values, traditions, value
systems, and related factors, more efficient and effective development efforts can
be achieved.-Govin
