SEVAI Celebrates International Women's Day 2015, a Trichy based NGO makes
arrangements for the commemoration of International Women's Day 2015 on 8th
March 2015 with the theme of “Make it happen”. The women Self Help Group
members and the women representing the cross section of the Society will
participate in the planned International Women's Day 2015 in Arumbuhalnagar
community centre near Trichy.The Principal organizer of this celebration,
Mrs.P.Vanitha said, “All around the world, International Women's Day represents
an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater
equality.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political
and social achievements of women past, present and future. Make It Happen
is the 2015 theme for our international women day, encouraging effective action
for advancing and recognizing women”.Gandhiji said, ‘Intellectually, mentally, and
spiritually, woman is equivalent to a male and she can participate in every
activity." The women’s contribution to social change and awareness had
been immense. Women in India have always been honored and respected. It is very
important to eliminate All Forms of Discrimination against Women. India is fortunate
to have had many great women. Their contribution to society in whole and to Women
in Particular is invaluable. In Modern Indian society women are playing stellar
role, and more importantly their role in family building, society development
is stupendous. Indian woman is emerging out of their conventional role,
realizing their unlimited potential and have begun to take major role in all
walks of life. Indian woman gentle, motherly yet powerful. Indian society look
upto their women folk to take the lead, which is slowly happening. When India
becomes a superpower, surely there will be significant contribution from great women. Thousands of events
occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's
groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day. This is the time to
uphold women’s achievements, recognize challenges, and focus greater attention
on women’s rights and gender equality to mobilize all people to do their part,
each woman and girl can exercise her choices, such as participating in
politics, getting an education, having an income, and living in societies free
from violence and discrimination. The proposed international women’s day will
be observed highlighting all achievements and also the gaps are to be bridged
