South Zone Board of Continuing Education (OZONE) celebrated International
Literacy Day on 25th September 2017 in Trichirapalli and Trichy
District Collector Shri.K.Rajamani I A S presided over the function and presented
Knowledge Connectivity Prime Award to Dr.M.Baskaran, Ph.D.,the Vice Chancellor of Tamilnadu Open University. Shri.K.Rajamani
I A S also presented Kalam Award for Community Outreach to Shri.N.Balagopal,
Vice President of P.N.Panicker Foundation, Thiruvandapuram, Kerala and Kalam
Award for Quality of life Improvement to Dr.Mrs.Benjamine Oberoi, Founder/Director
of CASA Foundation, India situated in Bangaluru of Karnataka.Trichy District
Collector also presented Kalam Award for Knowledge connectivity to
Shri.M.Srinivasa Reddy to veteran Social Activist and member-CAPART, Hyderabad and
presented Kalam Award for Community Outreach to Dr.P.Venketraman, a social
worker of Karaikal of Puducherry UT. Mr.M.Subburaman, Eco-sanitation Expert
from Trichy was presented with Kalam Award for Quality of Life Improvement. Trichy
District Collector Shri.K.Rajamani I A S in his presidential address expressed
his happiness that South Zone Board of Continuing Education has instituted
Kalam Award to experts those who serve in the field of Inclusive peoples’ development
and he appreciated the good efforts undertaken by South Zone Board of
Continuing Education in South India. District Collector mentioned that His
Excellency Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Former President of India and a
world-renowned Space Scientist, is an eminent personality for the mankind was
keen on encouraging the students in India to take active interest in the
emerging Technologies as these significantly impact our daily lives Promoters. He
believed that these awards will encourage the experts and other citizens especially
the student community to follow the track of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in the
areas of Knowledge connectivity, quality of life Improvement, Community
outreach and equivalency Education. Eleven more experts were also presented with
Kalam Awards on this occasion. Dr.M.Baskaran, Ph.D.,the Vice Chancellor of Tamilnadu Open University, Mr.B.Oberoi, the
Advisory committee Chairman of CARA Mr.M.Ramachandra Reddy, Dr.K.Meena,Ph.D., Former
Vice Chancellor of Barathidassan University, P.Ravi,Regional
Director,NIOS-Chennai, Educationist M.J.A.Ranjanidaoss also spoke on this occasion. Earlier the
Chairman of South Zone Board of Continuing Education handed over Kalam Memento
to District Collector and welcomed the gathering. Prof.Raja MutthuIrulandi,
Secretary of OZONE read the citation of the Awards.Dr.L.Shanawas Khan, Vice President
