Karthigai festival in Open shelter -happy occasion |
Karthigai festival was celebrated in SEVAI-RCI Children Open
shelter on 11th December 2019.Karthika Deepam is one of the most
ancient festivals that has been celebrated since ages according to Indian
history. It is symbolic of the festival of lights in Tamil Nadu and it
is considered as extended Deepavali and the occasion occurs during the full
moon day in Tamil month of Karthigai, December. The Children and Open house
staff of RCI-SEVAI CCRS project decorated the child friendly shelter beautifully
with Karthigai lights. The team of Open shelter earlier washed their floors and
in proper way and see that the walls and floor look attractively and children
friendly. The inmates and team members draw Rangoli near in the floor to mark
the festival as well as to make the shelter as children friendly and pleasing
to eyes. The lights usually represent the incorporation of happiness and prosperity
in the shelter. The inmate children of open shelter enjoyed the festival and
try to make their shelter as their home to look attractive and happiness. Mrs.Revathy,
Project Coordinator of RCI-SEVAI CCRS Project, Sukumaran, Home Superintend of
Open Shelter and home care givers and kids of the Shelter participated in
Karthigai Deepam Festival.Revathy, PCO greeted every one present on this
occasion and said, “The Open Shelter is an joyful home for the inmates and special
days such as Karthigai festival rejuvenate children, fill the shelter with happiness, joy and
delight. Every child in the shelter heartily need to celebrate and takes part
in special days, whether it is a festival or a special day for some cause. I
believe that the celebration of these special days bring happiness of the
inmates a spirit of togetherness”. –Govin
