In Manaparai Block, Trichy District, the Climate Resilient Village Development Initiative, led by ASSIST with HSBC's support, has transformed rural livelihoods through sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and community empowerment via Participatory Rapid Appraisal. In under two years, it introduced vermi-composting, land development, and eco-friendly production, while supporting landless laborers through goat rearing and large-scale fruit tree plantations. Tree plantation drives and conservation efforts expanded green cover, boosted biodiversity, improved soil health, and strengthened climate resilience. Waterbodies restoration, open well recharge systems, and green energy such as solar lights have directly benefited smallholders. Women's farmer groups emerged as leaders, advancing organic farming, nutrition, and household incomes. During a recent visit, Dr. J. Ranga Rao (Operational Director, ASSIST) and Mr. Michael (HSBC CSR representative), joined by Mrs. Vishnu (Head of HR, ASSIST), Mr. S. Paramasivan (Project Coordinator), project staff, and community leaders, heard how organic inputs improved family economies and food security. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude — a testament to the project's lasting, value-added impact on people and the planet. 🌿Govin
