Development is not providing but promoting the poor-,SEVAI

Society for Education Village Action and Improvement (SEVAI), established in 1984 in Trichy, Tamil Nadu by Founder and Secretary Shri. K. Govindaraju, is a leading NGO serving rural and urban communities across Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Guided by a General Body and Executive Committee, it adopts a community-driven approach, engaging people in planning, decision-making, implementation, and evaluation. SEVAI's key sectors include personnel training, research, agriculture, food production, vocational education, livelihood activities, rural technology, natural resource management, formal and non-formal schooling, scholarships, women's empowerment through self-help groups, tree plantation, agroforestry, waterbody development, environment conservation, Miyawaki forests, vermi-compost, organic farming, and youth exchange programs and Urban toilet complex maintenance management. It runs two government-aided primary schools and a matriculation higher secondary school, providing quality education and free nutritious meals to around 1,500 students. SEVAI has also built about 5,000 shelters for tsunami, flood, and cyclone victims and partners with government agencies, CSR initiatives, donors, and NGOs. Its guiding principles focus on equivalency education, quality of life improvement, community leadership, and individual interest programs, with a mission to empower communities and nurture futures through sustainable, inclusive development. SEVAI was honoured with the Outstanding Organisation Award by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 15th August 2025.🙏
