Rural Technology Centre trains farmers, the Rain water harvesting from Hilly tracks

SEVAI's Rural Technology Centre in Sirugamani showcases innovative rainwater harvesting techniques, empowering farmers and students 🌿. Mr. K. Sakthivel, watershed expert, highlights strategies for hilly tracks: check dams, ponds, terracing, contour bunding, recharge pits, and roof catchments. Check dams conserve water, prevent erosion, and support irrigation. Key considerations include site selection, design, and maintenance. Farmers from Dasilnaickanoor Watershed area visit the centre to learn about lift irrigation, pedal pumps, and vermi compost. Sakthivel notes that farm compost is like paddy, while vermicompost is food, enriching the land naturally 🙏.
