Celebrating Women's Empowerment: Mrs. Vanitha Palanisamy's Inspiring Journey_
On International Women's Day, March 8, 2026, we honor Mrs. Vanitha Palanisamy, a dedicated grassroots activist with over 35 years of service, for her tireless efforts in empowering rural women in Trichy and Karur districts through SEVAI, with the support of OFI. She's created thousands of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), training women in socio-economic empowerment, and linking them with government schemes and banks for livelihood activities.
Mrs. Palanisamy's initiatives have enabled women to gain financial independence, entrepreneurship skills, vocational training, leadership skills, and awareness on health and hygiene. She's set up entrepreneurship programs like Koraigrass mat-weaving, readymade garments production, fish rearing, pottery, and agro-based livelihood activities, benefiting numerous villages.
Her focus on comprehensive development, advocacy, and sustainability has promoted Agro Forestry, climate change adaptation, water and soil conservation, and nutrition-focused kitchen gardens, improving rural families' overall well-being. Recognized by the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Mrs. Palanisamy's work has improved income, health, and social status for rural women.
Let's celebrate her remarkable contributions to women's empowerment and rural development, showcasing the power of grassroots activism in transforming communities 🌟.Govin
