Musiri, Trichy District: Green India, in collaboration with SEVAI, has launched an agroforestry initiative aimed at empowering farmers in Musiri Block. Addressing women farmers at the Amoor Kalanjium centre, Mr. Sathis, the key functionary of Green India, Tamilnadu, highlighted the transformative power of agroforestry.
The initiative offers cost-free saplings of fruit trees like mango, guava, coconut, jackfruit, and papaya, along with timber trees, to eligible farmers (1+ acre patta land, water, and fencing). The organization will provide 1-year manure support and technical guidance.
Mr. Sathis cited benefits including water conservation, sustainable farming, climate resilience, enhanced biodiversity, soil enrichment, and carbon sequestration. A team of six surveyors and a supervisor will onboard farmers in Musiri Block, under Green India's supervision. The initiative promises a brighter, sustainable future for Musiri's farmers for a minimum of forty years 🍋.Govin
