"Rural Women:The Unsung Heroes of Food Security "



On International Women's Day, SEVAI Additional Director Mrs. C. Sudha honored rural women as the backbone for food security, highlighting their invaluable contributions to agriculture. As farm labourers, farmers, and entrepreneurs, women drive food production, preserve seeds, manage livestock, and champion organic farming. Their tireless efforts ensure food security, boost household incomes, and foster social empowerment. Yet, challenges like limited access to resources and social barriers persist. Mrs. Sudha urged rural women to tap into government schemes, NGOs, and women's collectives for training, credit, and market access. She also called upon them to lead social change, combating alcoholism and substance abuse, and embracing Gandhian values and rural tech to uplift their lives. Drawing inspiration from visionaries like Dr. Abdul Kalam and women leaders in food production, Mrs. Sudha emphasized rural women's pivotal role in shaping a prosperous, equitable society 🌟
