"National Panchayat Raj Day: Democracy in your Backyard "

Uploaded Image

Every April 24, India celebrates the day power came home. In 1993, the 73rd Amendment gave villages a Constitution and a voice — 2.6 lakh Gram Panchayats became the government nearest to 65% of Indians. This isn’t paperwork democracy. It’s the sarpanch fixing your borewell, the ward member mapping your street light, the woman president defending your village budget. With 14 lakh elected women and 50% reservation in Tamil Nadu, panchayats turned _Gram Swaraj_ from slogan to schedule. From MGNREGS to Jal Jeevan, from noon-meal centres to fruit trees on Trichy–Karur bunds, real change is planned under a neem tree, not in a Delhi hall. Yet power still trails responsibility — funds delay, staff shortages hurt, and Gram Sabhas need louder voices. National Panchayat Day isn’t a garland function. It’s a reminder: Viksit Bharat 2047 runs on strong panchayats. Because _ஊர் கூடித் தேர் இழுக்க வேண்டும்_ — the chariot moves only when the whole village pulls together.🌹Govin🌷
