Under the leadership of Priya, the SEVAI team is empowering rural communities through the DESWOS project in the Amoor Kalanjium cluster by training local farmers in scientific mushroom cultivation and the production of value-added products such as pickles, powders, and snacks. The program goes beyond cultivation skills to cover hygiene, packaging, and quality standards, while directly linking participants to suitable market channels including local vendors, retailers, and online platforms. By building the capacity of small-scale growers to operate as rural entrepreneurs, SEVAI enables consistent income generation, reduces reliance on seasonal crops, and creates sustainable livelihoods that strengthen the rural economy and improve household nutrition.
