relaunch function on March 1, 2013 in Trichy. They appreciated the initiative of
L.Shanawaskhan, Managing Director of Moon TV for his wise decision for choosing
Trichy as base for relaunching Moon TV as Trichy has all inclusive facilities
for the need of a Satellite TV Tamil infotainment channel goes off
air.V.M.Sundaram, the General Manager of Moon TV in his introductory address
mentioned that, “Moon Satellite TV was Launched in 2008 by Moon Vision, Tamil
channel Moon TV went off air in Chennai just six months after commencing its
operations. “The second innings of Moon TV has been made possible due to
state-run Arasu cable, which has brought about a significant change in the TV
distribution space in Tamil Nadu”. L.Shanawaskhan in his welcome address mentioned
“With the relaunch, there are also plans to consolidate and extend the prime-time slot with more news bulletins. This is keeping in mind that Moon TV
has been streaming programmes to 133 countries spread across the Indian
Sub-Continent, the Middle East, South East Asia, Australia and some parts of
Africa. The channel’s content has been revamped and we have added travel and
tourism shows, cookery shows, and shows for women and programmes for college
students. Given the fact that daily soaps are the major content that attracts
the viewers, we are confident of reaching a strong position among Tamil
Channels. Moon TV is targeted at women and Tamilians residing outside India. We
will be different from other major channels in Tamil Nadu as we will be covering
more rural news and events that you will not see in other channels. The channel
will embark on its promotional activities in the next two to three days. It
will include billboards, bus shelters, posters and word of mouth”.M.Akbar Khan,
Executive Director of ETA, HR-Division appreciated the initiative of
L.Shanawaskhan to transfer major portion of the operation of Moon TV office to
Trichy and his initiative of incorporating a show called ‘Home Theatre’, to
give opportunity for Upcoming short film makers to showcase their films.”The
south Zone cultural centre Director Sajith distributed souvenirs to the Moon TV
staff. Noted Tamil Scholar Nandalala, Dr.V.Jayapal and several others felicitated. dignitaries of cross section of the society,officials and
