SEVAI-OFI intervention brings positive change in Thotiyapatty Development

Thotiyapatty, a small village in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, has been transformed from a dry and barren land to a thriving agricultural hub through OFI-SEVAI's Irrigation and Sustainable Development Project. The initiative has improved food production, forest cover, and the quality of life for farmers and women. Key interventions included constructing checkdams, farm bunds, gully plugs, and farm ponds, promoting affordable cultivation, and empowering women through Self-Help Groups. As a result, food production has increased significantly, forest cover has improved, and socio-economic conditions have enhanced. The project's success can be attributed to community-led initiatives, collaborative efforts, and a focus on sustainability. The Thotiyapatty model is replicable, showcasing the impact of water harvesting, sustainable agriculture, and community participation in driving positive change 🌹.
