"Exploring Sustainable Practices:SEVAI's Natural Resources Management centre Visit"

*"Exploring Sustainable Practices: SEVAI's Natural Resources Management Centre Visit"*
Students from SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pettavaithalai, visited the SEVAI Natural Resources Management Centre on 10, March 2026 forenoon to explore vermi compost production and its applications. Teacher Ms. Jananathamani guided them through the process of organic farming using vermi compost and vermi wash, as it's part of the 5th standard science syllabus. Vermi compost, a nutrient-rich compost, is produced by earthworms breaking down organic waste like food scraps and leaves. The process involves collecting waste, adding earthworms, and providing moisture and aeration. This eco-friendly method reduces waste, produces natural fertilizer, improves soil fertility, and supports healthy plant growth, enriching the students' learning experience.
The students also visited a miniature watershed model to learn about effective water and soil conservation technology. Additionally, they went on an eco walk in the Natural Resources Management centre, where they explored various eco-friendly practices and technologies, including:
- Rainwater harvesting systems
- Solar energy installations
- Organic farming plots
- Biodiversity conservation areas
- Waste management systems

The eco walk provided hands-on learning experience, helping students connect with nature and understand sustainable practices  🌿Govin
