Founded in *1947* in Mettumarudur, a farming village near Kulithalai, Tiruchirappalli District, SEVAI Natesan Govt Aided Primary School installed a *Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyar statue in 1993* to teach courage before calculus. *Renovated in 2026* after 33 years, the statue continues to guide the primary school students studying here today. It embodies Bharathi’s core call: _Achamillai_ — be fearless, _Kalvi_ for every child, _Pudhumai Penn_ for every girl, and dignity for every parent’s labour. For these learners from farming homes, his turban and unflinching gaze turn poetry into posture and self-respect. Woven into assembly, songs, and daily school life, the statue makes courage a habit, not a slogan. The children respect Bharathiyar not as a distant poet, but as a daily teacher of fearlessness. The renovation proves a simple truth: ideals don’t age, but they must be tended. Here, statue doesn’t stand silent. It commands _“Nimirthu nil”_ — stand tall — and a rural classroom obeys, every single day.🙏Govin
