SEVAI Natesan Govt Aided Primary School, founded in 1947 in rural Mettumarudur, near Kulitalai installed a Thiruvalluvar statue in 1993 to nurture character alongside literacy. Renovated in 2026 after 32 years, it remains a daily guide to the _Thirukkural_’s essentials: _Kalvi_ (education), _Ozhukkam_ (discipline), _Anbu_ (compassion), _Vaaimai_ (truth), and _Uzhavu_ (dignity of labour). For first-generation learners from farming homes, Valluvar is more than a poet — he is a mirror to their roots and a model for their conduct. Woven into assembly, story sessions, and school rituals, the statue makes abstract ethics visible and lived. The renovation affirms a simple truth: values don’t age, but they do need care. In this rural classroom, stone quietly teaches what textbooks alone cannot — pride, integrity, and a moral compass carried across generations.🙏Govin
