"OZONE Honours Two Luminaries: Arivu Sudar Mamani and Maruthuva Sudar Awards Conferred "

On 25 April 2026, the South Zone Board of Continuing Education – OZONE – transformed Kalaiaarangam Conference Hall, Tiruchirappalli, into a tribute to word, work, and healing, honouring two distinguished changemakers. Thiru. V. Jawahar Arumugam received the _Excellence Golden Jubilee Award, ‘Arivu Sudar Mamani’_ for his fearless journalism, evocative books, and grassroots change through his NGO, while Dr. M. S. Vijayanand was conferred the _Excellence Medical Services Award, ‘Maruthuva Sudar’-2026_ for exemplary rural surgical service and cancer care. District Judge (Retd.) Shri. Kukan @ K. Karunanithi and neuro specialist Dr. M.A. Aleem presented the trophies, _ponnadai_, and cash prizes amid resounding applause, with OZONE Chairman Dr. K. Govindaraju, Padmashree Marachi Subburaman, and Tiruchirappalli Writers Association President Shri Indra Jith on stage. Hailed as “a beacon of _Arivu_ and _Sudar_ — knowledge and light,” Jawahar accepted the honour as “a loan for the future,” insisting that “only straightforward, transparent service ensures true sustainability” and that “truth will give quality of life improvement.” Dr. Vijayanand, lauded by Dr. Aleem for taking advanced surgical care to underserved patients, dedicated his award to equitable healthcare — a mission reflected in his 2,000+ laparoscopic and 500+ major cancer surgeries and the Delta Cancer Foundation’s _Cancer Free Cauvery Delta_ program that has screened 1,000+ patients.
