On 25 April 2026, the South Zone Board of Continuing Education – OZONE – transformed Kalaiaarangam Conference Hall, Tiruchirappalli, into a celebration of word and work, conferring the _Excellence Golden Jubilee Award, ‘Arivu Sudar Mamani’_ on Thiru. V. Jawahar Arumugam for his fearless journalism, evocative books, and grassroots change through his NGO. Neuro specialist Dr. M.A. Aleem and District Judge (Retd.) Shri. Kukan @ K. Karunanithi presented the trophy, _ponnadai_, and cash prize amid resounding applause, as OZONE Chairman Dr. K. Govindaraju, Padmashree Marachi Subburaman, and Tiruchirappalli Writers Association President Shri Indra Jith looked on. Hailed by veteran social workers as “a beacon of _Arivu_ and _Sudar_ — knowledge and light,” Jawahar responded with folded hands: “I am but a reed pen. This honour belongs to everyone who trusted me with their story, and to every person who taught me that dignity is earned through hard work, not given.” Calling the award “a loan for the future, not a garland for the past,” he stressed that “Truth will give quality of life improvement” — the creed guiding his pen and fieldwork. “Awards fade, but a child reading under a streetlight, a mat that pays a mother’s wage, a line of truth that halts a wrong — those are the only medals that matter.” The hall rose, applauding not a ceremony closed, but a mission renewed.
