SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School inculcates Joyful Teaching Learning process.

Joyful Learning Kids of SEVAI Shanthi MHS School
“SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School inculcates Joyful Teaching Learning process in the school offers favourable environment for the academic and extracurricular performances of students” Principal of the SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School Mrs.Chitra Balasubramanian  enlightened the teachers and further said, “As educators, we need to take learning seriously. But that does not mean that learning must feel like serious business for our students. By providing joyful learning environments and experiences for our students, we can improve engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes and it would increase pace of learning with activities like playing, exercising, laughing, acting kind, and having choices as to how to participate. Motivation, attention, perseverance, and creativity go up when students are involved in joyful learning environment. We need to design these environments for our students based on what we know about the intelligence, emotions, and learning opportunities by creating an inviting classroom where students feel happy and comfortable helps to lower feelings of stress and increase positive attitudes about learning. Our students may have any number of struggles that make it challenging to be successful in school. We need
Children Learn in Joyful School  Education Environment
to have the power to create a welcoming, supportive, and interesting place for students to learn. Paying special attention to the learning materials you use in class is also part of designing a joyful classroom. We can create and use content that appeals to our students and they have shown improvements in retention and understanding of the concepts after lessons. Teacher need to take up an approach that connects real life to learning while valuing what is interesting to our students. There are many ways to surprise and delight our students to heighten their interest in what they are learning. Make learning experiences relevant to the group’s interests. We can’t assume that we know what is interesting and enjoyable to our students. To best understand what our students like and care about, it is important to get to know our students better and take notice of what they are happy about. Invite students to share their interests and desired things, and offer choices as often as possible for them to investigate, respond and create in ways that matter to them”.-Govin

One of the  Childline-1098 Trichy team members shared his views among the kids and their parents and teachers and said, “The best way to prevent child abuse is to help parents, teachers are to develop the skills and identify the resources they need to understand and meet their children’s needs and protect them from harm and it is important  to practice  the common activities of prevention programs, keys to successful prevention services, and protective factors that increase the health and well-being of children and families and it is the responsibility of  everyone to support families in raising safe and healthy children. The first step in helping abused or neglected children is learning to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect and Childline 1098 will be helpful to sensitize awareness on child abuse, including signs associated with

maltreatment such as physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and emotional maltreatment. The harmful effects of child abuse and neglect vary depending on a number of factors, including the circumstances, personal characteristics of the child, and the child’s environment. In many cases, child abuse and neglect have consequences for children, families, and society that last lifetimes. Child line-1098 services provide the most common physical, psychological, behavioral, and societal consequences of child abuse and neglect, including findings from its field experiences”. The team member further said, “
We believe that every child has a right to a safe childhood free of violence and it is important time to start the conversation in our communities about how we can keep our children safe. By promoting safety, awareness and dialogue, we can prevent abuse from happening in the first place and help keep our children safe”. Childline-1098 team further narrated the key reasons to Prevent Child Maltreatment and said, “It might seem self-evident that we should work to prevent child maltreatment. The damage it may cause can be even more insidious and far-reaching than most people realize and it is vital to prevent child maltreatment before it hurts children and communities, Child maltreatment can be fatal, Child maltreatment can confuse a child’s normal growth and development, the emotional and physical damage a child may suffer from abuse and neglect is extensive and  consequences of maltreatment include chronic health problems, cognitive and language disorders, and socio-emotional problems such as low self-esteem, lack of trust, and poor relationships with adults and peers. Prevention programs targeted at children can improve a child’s awareness of how best to avoid child maltreatment and other unsafe practices.  Child abuse prevention efforts serve as a way to combat other social problems.  Child abuse prevention creates a more compassionate society, one which places a high value on the welfare of children”. -Govin

Foundation Hirzel and OFI supported SEVAI Rural Technology centre in Sirugamani functions are learning centre for watershed management.

Watershed model set up by SEVAI, visited by Students
Foundation Hirzel and OFI supported SEVAI Rural Technology centre in Sirugamani has established a three dimension Watershed Management model for teaching the trainees and students on the watershed management techniques. Watershed development needs various interventions for soil and water conservation. One such intervention in watershed development is the construction of check dam. The coordinator of the Technology centre K.Devendran said, “Check dams are useful to regulate the flow of water as per needs during summer when there is scarcity of water in water shadow regions of Tamilnadu.Checkdams, percolation tanks, contour and farm bunding, afforestration are some of the key components of Watershed and all these features are marked in the three dimension watershed demo-model and that this demo model is used to describe the process of implementing land use practices and water management practices to protect and improve the quality of the water and other natural resources within a watershed by managing the use of those land and water resources in a comprehensive manner. The watershed project implemented by SEVAI in Dasilnaickanoor is a micro watershed project that results in a plan of how to best protect and improve the water quality and other natural resources in a watershed. The coordinator added, ‘Water is essential for our future. A healthy watershed provides the triple benefits of human, ecological and economic

health. The goal of watershed management is to properly balance and manage this resource. Watershed management is an adaptive, comprehensive,

integrated multi-resource management planning process that seeks to balance healthy ecological, economic, and cultural, social conditions within a watershed. Watershed management serves to integrate planning for land and water; it takes into account both ground and surface water flow, recognizing and planning for the interaction of water, plants, animals and human land use found within the physical boundaries of a watershed. Watershed management provides a framework for integrated decision-making to help: assess the nature and status of the watershed; identify watershed issues; define and re-evaluate short and long-term objectives, actions and goals; assess benefits and costs; and implement and evaluate actions. . A healthy, intact watershed minimizes the impacts of flooding and erosion and serves to filter sediments and contaminants so they do not reach our streams, lakes, and groundwater. An abundant supply of clean water is essential for a vibrant economy. Life requires a safe daily supply of water. But water is far more than that: clean surface and ground water is essential to support our high quality of life and the social aspects of our communities.”SEVAI Rural Technology centre has also promoted tree nursery raising techniques unit- Govin

SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School organized Kids day with a theme “Celebrating Kids”

School kids day celebration
SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School organized Kids day with a theme “Celebrating Kids”.The Principal of the School, Mrs.Chitra Balasubramaniam spoke on the occasion and said, “Children's early experiences :the bonds they form with their parents and their first learning experiences deeply affect their future physical, cognitive, emotional and
Happy kids
social development. Optimizing the early years of
kids’ lives is the best investment we can make as a society in ensuring their future success. The emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become. That is why understanding the need to invest in very young children is so important, so as to maximize their future well-being. Babies begin to learn about the world around them from a very early age including during the prenatal, prenatal and postnatal period. Family is the single most important influence in a child's life. From their first moments of life, children depend on parents and family to protect them and provide for their needs. Parents and family form a child's first relationships. The first five years of a child's life are fundamentally important. Children learn more quickly during their early years than at any other time in life. They need love and nurturing to develop a sense of trust and security that turns into confidence as they grow. As teachers it’s important to value children’s interests and experiences as it show the children we are listening to them, it helps them to become their own individual person, to concentrate more, have higher self-esteem and it also helps to have. Visual learners learn best through the use of visual aids, diagrams, or other visual tools other than words. Auditory learners process best through listening, reading aloud and talking about ideas. The kids want a simple acknowledgement for all the everyday things they succeed at and do so well, accomplishments other kids might brush off as too easy, or acts adults might not even notice. By recognizing and celebrating such small, everyday successes with kids, parents and teachers can reinforce resilience and self-esteem in immeasurable ways".-Kris

Hirzel Foundation supports cost effective Rural Techonolgy Centre through SEVAI a Trichy based NGO which  promotes cost effective Rural Technology centre in the cost effective and energy efficient construction of shelter and the associated civil works in Sirugamani of Trichirapalli District. Housing, next to food and clothing is the most important need of a human being. The Technology project ensures safety, construction cost; expenditure on maintenance, availability of materials and the various components associated with construction sector. SEVAI advocates some guiding principles for developing sustainable alternative building technologies such as energy conservation, concern for environment, (c) minimization of transport and maximization of locally available materials, decentralization of production and maximum use of local skills. SEVAI team views that though energy conservation is a necessity, but it should not be achieved at the cost of human thermal comfort and has prescribed the general guidelines for designing of climate responsive building: Minimization of heat gains during daytime and maximization of heat loss at night in hot seasons, and reverse in cold seasons, Minimization internal heat gain in the hot season,Optimisation of building structure, and  that walls and roof are the two important components of the building envelope that affect the thermal comfort of a building and roof has the strongest thermal impact of heat loss and gain as it receives most of the solar radiation. A combination of traditional knowledge with advanced technology has been preferred and SEVAI views for use of local

A co-implementing children in Contact with Railway Stations-CCRS Project of SEVAI, a Trichy based NGO, Railway children and Trichy Railway Division administer Child Assistance Booth in Trichy Railway Junction.

Functioning for over 22 months now at the busy junction, the Child Assistance Booth, a combined scheme of SEVAI, Railway Children and Tiruchi Railway has rescued several runaway minors found wandering at the station. During 2018 and till date, the Child Assistance Booth has rescued 1528 minors a majority of whom are runaway children. A majority of them are boys and around 10% are girls. The reasons for children leaving their homes have been found to be varied. Interaction with them shows that conflict with parents and teachers, domestic problem, separated parents, lack of parental care and inability to cope with studies are among factors that trigger the fleeing. The Child Assistance Booth has a team of social workers and outreach workers working round-the-clock in three shifts at the junction. While the outreach workers rescue the runaways, the social workers examine the immediate needs of such minors. The rescued minors are brought to the booth and their immediate needs are addressed to put them at ease. Usually, such children are found with a wavering mind engulfed by a sense of anxiety and loneliness. It is for this reason that they are made to feel comfortable through pep talk and handed over to the Government Railway Police or Railway Protection Force as per procedure and from there on to the Child Welfare Committee for initiating further steps, the SEVAI representative said. There have also been instances where the rescued minor has hailed from north Indian States. A proper follow-up is carried out once the children are reunited with their parents under the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee. All efforts are taken to restore the runaway children with their parents after following due procedures. Counseling is provided to the child and parents during the restoration process. If the child is not inclined to stay with the parents, they are given safe shelter to pursue education and constantly motivated to go home. Parents need to understand the sentiments of their child and spend adequate time with them to prevent such tendencies from creeping in the minor a child activist says.-Govin

She made an impressive speech and said, “Colonial powers were transferred to India on August 15, 1947. The Constituent Assembly, to who power was to be transferred, met to celebrate India's independence at mid night on August 14, 1947. It was then that the free India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave his famous "Tryst with Destiny" speech.  Today we celebrate the 73rd Independence Day of our great Nation.  On this joyous occasion I convey my greetings and good wishes to all and pray for their peace, progress and prosperity. Today, India is looked upon as the largest and most vibrant democracy in the world.  In recent years India has been well known the world over for its achievements in several fields, particularly in the arena of Information Technology.   The greatest achievement of this country is that in spite of its vast diversity and a population of 1/6 of entire humanity, the country has continued to remain intact and strong even after over seven decades of independence. A great challenge to be faced by India in the near future is shortage of food. India being predominantly agriculture based economy, and with a vast population of
National cultural events by school children
over a billion people has to be self sufficient in terms of food production to feed its people. Thanks to its great farming community, ever since Independence India has been largely self sufficient in terms of food crops and has always grown crops much beyond its needs.
India has always had a vision and a message for the world. From the very beginning of our civilization we have believed that the world is one and humanity is a single family. India is committed to establish ties of friendship and co-operation with all countries. India's engagement with the world is intensifying both in the economic and political fields. India is a country that has, and is, contributing to regional and global peace and stability”. Everyone liked the programme.Prizes were distributed the students and sweets were distributed to the participants. In the end, all stood in attention. All the students, teachers, parents and participants sang the National Anthem in chorus. With this the function was over. -Kris

Trichy Childline1098 Collab created safety awareness among the school children.

Childline 1098 collab counselor creates awareness
Trichy Childline1098 Collab created awareness among the school children in Government aided Primary school in Bichandarkoil of Manachanallur Block of Trichirapalli District about good touch and bad touch and team member Social work counselor said “For children, "good" touch is touch that cares for them, that is necessary for their health or safety, or makes them feel safe, or is fun. "Bad" touch is any touch that they don't want or makes them feel scared, or any secret touch, or any touch on their genitals or bottom, unless it's necessary for their health. It's also important to teach adults that we have the primary responsibility for keeping children safe. So whether it is schools, families, first responders, sports teams, etc, it's important for all of us to be aware and invested in keeping our children safe.
