Concrete hollow blocks are innovative building products that are used as substitutes for traditional bricks in building construction. Concrete Hollow blocks are made out of a mixture of Portland cement, sand, gravel and water. When the mixture is wet it is paste-like and can be cast into the form of the block. When it dries, it hardens until it becomes like stone. Hollow concrete blocks have one or more hollow cores. These cores reduce the total cross-sectional area of the block by at least 25 percent. A hollow-core concrete block is more than 50 percent solid. SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School promotes Interactive Library with the support of Mr. Troy Swanson and Dr. (Mrs) Benjamine Oberoi of OFI. The OFI Volunteer Robin Jour, the Librarian of the School mentions, “the library of the SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher School has evolved into an inclusive space of interactive learning in which students can benefit from new activities. Mr. Troy is an American philanthropist and founder of Alphabet club, a European educational NGO which SEVAI has been working with since the first idea of an interactive Library in the school. With this partnership, Troy gave SEVAI and OFI the opportunity to get access to more than 350 story books from the great Tulika publishers through funding and coordination. Ms. Oberoi Benjamine, meanwhile and with her partnership with us through OFI, ensured that the process was well managed and implemented during her periodical visits to Tamilnadu. From library class during the day to special training classes for teacher during the evening, the library has become a place to live and to learn. With its new technology access, children can also learn from a visual support. We believe it's nice for their education to have a visual contact with their environment in all its forms. We believe that our students need to manipulate all forms of knowledge from English expressivity to sciences and astronomy. With a strong emphasis on story books, the library is providing a range of classic activities such as listening and comprehension to reading and expression as we believe children should get exposed to book and literature activities in order for them to train their minds for the future, through stories and comprehension. By opening themselves with books and an open mind, it will be time for them to write their own story. The library activated its interactive mode by allowing kids and children to watch documentaries during classes on several topics in which we find Ecology, Wildlife, Science and Geography. SEVAI-OFI Women Self Help Group Federation members assembled on this occasion in the community centre of SEVAI- Allur.SEVAI women coordinator Ms.T.Vanitha Presided over the women’s day celebration. The Associate Director of SEVAI Ms.C.Suda delivered the key note address on international women’s day speech and said, “International Women's Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women's Rights and International Peace; it celebrates women's achievements worldwide celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Young Kids are brilliant who love to experience everything from physical and hands-on learning objects. Structured Play and exploration are vital to the growth and development of children. Pre-KG Education deals with developing the personality of a child through sensory learning which includes touching, smelling, seeing, tasting, and creativity. Learning by doing for Pre-KG Kids is a hands-on approach to learning, meaning kids must interact with their environment in order to adapt and learn and doing helps the kids to gain a better understanding of the material. The activities are more work based in the sense that the focus is more on promoting concentration abilities among children. Also, since it aims to improve the concentration abilities of children, the classrooms and material is aesthetically designed and gives a home like feeling to children. One aspect of the pre-KG teaching strategies that teachers should consider more fully is the fact that children can also find meaningful work within the play structure of Pre-KG education. Providing a nurturing atmosphere in which children can flourish includes allowing them to enter the world of ‘real work’ such as picking up toys, identification of domestic animals by simple Pre-KG project work with teachers and family guidance. Helping activities are a crucial part of Pre-KG education. Allowing kids to explore the satisfaction of accomplishing target and assisting in the projects smoothly gives the kids more opportunities to feel the value of their participation. This is valuable growth and learning time. A Pre-KG kid learns responsibility and empathy when learning about surroundings, pets, domestic animals etc and taking up project work. A Newborn female Infant was found deserted in a bag outside a grocery shop in Bharthidasan nagar, Thiruvarambur in Trichy in the early hours of second day of February. Local Residents spotted the bag and the local Nurse took custody of the baby. On receipt of this information, Trichy Childline 1098 as managed by SEVAI rushed to the spot and shifted the infant to Government Hospital in Trichy. As the infant was underweight, the doctors admitted the baby in the Neo-natal Intensive care unit. Trichy Childline lodged a police complaint in this regard. Childline also reported to the District Child Protection officer and Child Welfare committee.

We, SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School started our journey with ICHEC 10 years back, when the school students’ strength was around 700 students. Currently 1700 students are pursuing their studies in our school. We needed class rooms as the school has to admit more number of rural students from the surrounding villages. Having understood the additional class rooms for the School, ICHEC extended helping hand for the construction of additional class rooms over the years; we are able to admit additional rural

At the outset, as Director of SEVAI, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to ICHEC Senior Management, staff members and students of ICHEC both teams, Allur and SEVAI Shanthi School of -2020 for the efficient involvement of the construction projects in Allur and Shanthi School.

We are grateful to Senior Management of ICHEC Business School, Brussels and the Director of Mr. Vincent   Haurt and ably assisted by the supportive staff members for selecting SEVAI for this partnership nearly for two decades. SEVAI has been partners with ICHEC for 17 years now. ICHEC has been financing for housing, construction of school class rooms and construction community centers and wok sheds for livelihood projects for local poor people of the villages of Trichirapalli District.

India includes varied ecological formations along with cultural diversity and historical heritage. Over the years, India has grown manifold and embraced changes to keep up with the dynamics of the world. ICHEC Students, Being volunteers in SEVAI in India can be complex as well as rewarding experiences of life. You students of ICHEC, coming and working on voluntary basis in SEVAI in India would have gained familiarity about this part of the country and its language and culture and would have developed leadership skills, self-confidence and a greater understanding of the local work culture around you in both projects.

In spite of the rapid development, India still faces several socio-economic problems including illiteracy, issues pertaining to women and children, poverty, lack of sanitation facilities etc. You might find yourself questioning and constantly evaluating your definitions of ‘social work’, ‘volunteerism’ and ‘service’. We, SEVAI sincerely appreciate ICHEC Business School Students team students’ labor-intensive support of the construction process of Community Hall construction situated in SEVAI centre, Allur as well as SEVAI Shanthi School class room constructions. ICHEC Team students worked friendly with community people, students, construction workers, masons,electricians,painters and roof fixing professionals, barbenders and plumbers etc.in both Allur and SEVAI School projects and it also gave happiness for the local construction workers for expressive communication with quality construction works.

ICHEC Volunteers provided a selfless service with no financial benefit for the ICHEC students but for the students of SEVAI School and rural community of Allur. The community center in Allur is constructed in a manner, which is conductive to the rural communities needs for accommodating around 150 persons at a time with the stage facilities and electrical fittings and eye pleasing colors.

The Classroom constructed by ICHEC in SEVAI Shanthi School has ventilation, veranda space and adequate space for learning and teaching process as teacher - students’ friendly, the best place and mark of experiences and emotions and educational memories of each and every student. Both the projects in Allur and SEVAI School will be put in use as soon the inauguration is over for the purpose of the construction of buildings aimed at.

Equal Health Australia and SEVAI Trichy organized free spectacles distribution project.

Providing suitable spectacles to a villager by Equal Health

Equal Health Australia has provided spectacles to 2458 persons in February 2020 in SEVAI target Villages, such as Arumbuhal Nagar- Pettavaithalai, Allur and Amoor of Trichirapalli District and Melapatty of Karur District of Tamilnadu from 3^rd to 12^th February, 2020.Mr.Paul Clarke, Director of Equal Health with six more health volunteers namely Ms. Hardie Angela, Ms.Ashlea Rusby, Mr. Khyber Alam, Ms. Na Pham,  Ms.Sue Strachan and Ms. Unnamalai Chidambaram in collaboration of SEVAI team conducted the spectacles to the needy population after professional screening of the vision of the villages. Boys Club launched in SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School with the initiative of Police officials in Pettavaithalai.

Boys Club was launched in SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School with the initiative of Police officials in Pettavaithalai on 12th February 2020. Mrs. Rubini, Sub Inspector of Police, Pettavaithalai and her associates commenced Boys Club with the association of the School Administration of SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pettavaithalai. Higher Secondary classes’ students actively enrolled themselves of the members of the Boys club. School Physcial Directors of School Mrs.K.Maheswari and Mr.N.Kannan organized a volley ball match event between two houses of SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School team with the guidance and support and presence of Police Officials. The School students, teachers and especially police officials encouraged the school teams those were playing volley ball match.The Sub-Inspector of Police, Ms.Rubini  presented the prizes to winners at the end of the sports meet.  Mr.K.Devendran, School Welfare officer and the School Principal Ms.Chitra and senior management team of School coordinated the program and thanked the Police Officials for their initiative of launching the Boys club in the School. When the Blog Writer contacted the Principal over phone, Madam Principal Chitra enlightened the salient features of the function and especially  appreciated the involvement Sub-Inspector of Police and shared her views as, “engaging children in sports has health benefits and  education benefits such as motor, cognitive, social, cultural and moral developments in the  areas of learning.The club managed by a Physical Director of School with the guidance of Police Officials will be functional in the school, providing children a space for recreation and reading apart from engaging in sports and games.
