‘OFI, France- Gavoty Award-2010’ conferred on Dr.P.Muthuveeran, I.A.S, District Collector, Theni.

Trichy-January 24: OFI, France- Gavoty Award-2010 conferred on Dr.P.Muthuveeran, I.A.S, District Collector, Award Organizer President of South Zone Board of Continuing Education Announced. Objectif France Inde (OFI), www.objectif-france-inde.fr is an international organization working for poor and down trodden since 1998 having its base in Toulon. Objectif France Inde (OFI) has instituted an award namely OFI, France- Gavoty Award and it has been conferred on the outstanding personalities those reach poorest of the poor for their development.
The President of South Zone Board of Continuing Education, Dr.K.Govindaraju forwarded the nomination of Dr.P. Muthuveeran, District Collector, Theni for the award to OFI-France and he has mentioned in his recommendations ‘Dr.P. Muthuveeran, Distict Collector, Theni has been rendering his services for the poor in various positions and as a Collector of Theni his ‘Makkalai Thedi Maavatta Nirvagam’ -‘Direct meeting of officials with the public’ is a unique initiative of visiting villages sitting with the communities in floors with the officials solving the problems then and there. He added that the one year study undertaken by Prof.Bala Subramanian for this award on behalf of OFI France reveals that Collector’s approach of administration is more of poor and SHG friendly in remotest villages of the District for the quality of life improvement poor in the areas of health and sanitation, livelihood promotion, creating eco -friendly District by converging various Government schemes as a package for the needy. Dr.K.Govindaraju said that the collector deserves to receive such a prestigious award earlier conferred on then Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Open University, Dr.M.S.Palanichamy and a few other stalwarts. Collector Dr.P.Muthuveeran says that convergence of department works was possible as all department officials helped him organizing ‘Direct meeting of officials with the public’ which gave good results of taking the Government schemes directly to the beneficiaries. He also appreciates the cooperation of the Public and NGO especially self Help Groups. He also thanks Tamilnadu Government allowed him to continue to work in Theni District as District Collector. He also recollects his works as Municipal Corporation of Trichy for the construction of sanitary complexes and put them in proper use in cooperation with SEVAI and other NGOs in 1997. Collector Muthuveeran also says direct meeting of officials with the public with many schemes to the poor, tribals prevented the most poor in remote areas from moving towards anti-social elements. The public appreciate Dr.Muthuveeran that his ‘Makkalai Thedi Maavatta Nirvagam’ has brought visible developmental changes in the District. Dr.S.Balasubramainian,who made a study said that this collector has not only heart but also developed a system to reach the unreached. Dr.P.Muthuveeran, IAS District Collector, Theni had been awarded with three international accreditation certificates – Quality Management System (ISO 9001), Environment Management System (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 18001) to the Theni District Collectorate in recognition of its integrated management system by the Dubai Accreditation Centre for services  to public, Quality in health, education and environment. He is also recipient of Dr.Malcolm S.Adiseshiah centenary Supreme Award, an award instituted by Tamilnadu Board of Continuing Education for the year 2010 for his outstanding performances for improving the life of quality of poor’.
The OFI, France- Gavoty Award-2010 will be handed over to Dr.P.Muthuveeran, I.A.S.by Mrs. Elizabeth Walton, President OFI, France with a five member French team in Kalairarangam conference Hall, Trichy on the 20th at 6pm.Ms.Xyion Stephen makes arrangements for this function.-Etram News Service.
