‘Makkalai Thedi Maavatta Nirvagam’ has brought visible developmental changes in Theni District’- A study undertaken by South Zone Board of Continuing Education reveals.

A yearlong study undertaken by South Zone Board of Continuing Education in Theni District reveals that ‘Makkalai Thedi Maavatta Nirvagam’ -‘direct meeting of officials with the public’ headed by District Collector Dr.P.Muthuveeran, IAS, District Collector )that convergence of department works was possible as all department officials helped him organizing ‘Direct meeting of officials with the public’) has brought visible developmental changes in Theni District’ of taking the Government schemes directly to the beneficiaries with  the cooperation of the PRIs,Public and NGOs especially self Help Groups. South Zone Board of Continuing Education finds the fact that helping is not simply a matter of dispersing money to poor but of making a deep, long-term commitment and casting a hard eye on results. With this model, the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maavatta Nirvagam’ tried to build the capacity of the needy population, training them to gradually sustain and scale up themselves and their activities. It initially offers them the opportunity to reach their potential and progressively scale up and bear the entire weight themselves. The entire District Administration is in compliance with the principles of "Good Governance "and thus sets itself apart with its set norms of sustainability, scalability, accountability, transparency, credibility and effective leadership. The study undertaken in Theni District will be published in Tamil and English soon- South Zone Board of Continuing Education sources said-EtNS
