SEVAI, with the support of OFI, has been restoring minor waterbodies like tanks, ponds, and check dams in Trichy and Karur Districts which has led to a significant increase in water availability for irrigation. These water bodies play a crucial role in climate change adaptation by regulating water cycles, recharging groundwater, and preventing floods.
The benefits of this project are multifaceted:
- *Increased food production*: More water means more crops.
- *Improved food security*: Fresh produce for local communities.
- *Better livelihoods*: Farmers sell surplus produce, boosting income.
- *Climate resilience*: Restored water bodies help communities adapt to climate change .
Additionally, the project promotes:
- *Family nutrition*: Fresh, homegrown veggies provide essential vitamins and minerals .
- *Healthy habits*: Encourages kids to eat their greens.
The public has appreciated the water tank deepening and percolation tank project, and it's a testament to the success of OFI's initiatives . Thanks to OFI for their efforts! 🙏Govin
