SEVAI/Green India Fruit tree saplings plantation in Trichy area

SEVAI/Green India's Fruit Trees Plantation initiative in Trichy has supported farmers in planting fruit trees on their land, promoting sustainable agriculture and improving livelihoods. Around 50,000 fruit tree saplings have been planted across 300 acres of farmers' land.
The initiative includes planting climate-resilient fruit trees like Mango, Lemon, Amla, and Coconut, along with timber species like Teak and Mahogany. These trees are chosen for their market demand, nutritional value, and environmental benefits.
The benefits of this initiative include:
- *Additional Income*: Fruit trees provide extra income streams for farmers through fruit sales
- *Soil Conservation*: Tree roots hold soil, reducing erosion and improving fertility
- *Biodiversity Boost*: Fruit trees support pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects
- *Climate Resilience*: Trees provide shade, reduce evaporation, and sequester carbon
The implementation process involved identifying willing farmers and suitable land, selecting climate-resilient tree species, and providing saplings, training, and maintenance support.🌿
