34 huts gutted in fire at Kiledar Big Bazaar, Trichy


Trichy: In a fire accident on Kiledar Big Bazaar Road at Trichy on Saturday, 34 huts were gutted. The reason for the accidents was not known immediately. There was no casualty. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. Transport Minister K.N.Nehru, Trichy Mayor Sujatha, Dt.Collector MahesanKasirajan, AnbilPeriyasamy,MLA.Corporation.T.Balsamy and officials, SEVAI NGO K.Govindarajajan visited the spot. They provided food and other relief to the victims immediately. Each victim family was given 10 kg rice. The authorities assured if family health, ration cards of beneficiaries were burnt, they would be sanctioned again free of cost, said the Minister. SHG women were requesting SEVAI to provide roof for immediate occupation of the burnt houses as they are living in a community hall of a school in the school and some support for food and some clothes for children and women. SEVAI team earlier visited the slum and personally observed the place where the fire broke out. The accident site presented a gory look with mounds of ashes everywhere in the locality. The woes of the victims were ‘indescribable' as they lost all their belongings in the flames. At one's residence, Rs.45,000 cash kept for a wedding in the family; and at another's house, currency worth Rs.15,000, saved for SHG activities; was burnt. ENS
