CM distributes welfare measures to beneficiaries
‘Growth should be inclusive to eradicate poverty’- said Ms.J.Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in a Government function organized by Trichy District Administration here in Srirangam and further said 'Our government's schemes will benefit the people,' and the chief minister announced various schemes with an outlay of around Rs.200 crore for the improvement of her constituency, Srirangam. The Chief Minster affirmed that her government was committed to bringing about an inclusive growth and was adopting a two-pronged strategy to eradicate poverty and improve the standard of living of the people. She said further “Infrastructure development and setting up big industries alone are not enough for economic growth. This is not the right kind of economic growth. I believe that economic growth should include the uplift of the poor. Even while extending various concessions and benefits to the poor, the government was also focussing on implementing schemes to improve their standard of life and purchasing power, she said, citing the schemes launched by her government such as the increase in the marriage assistance for women, along with four grams of free gold, increase in the monthly assistance given to the old, widows, destitute and differently-abled persons’.
Ms.J. Jayalalithaa announced construction of a guest house for tourists, the construction of check dam across the river Cauvery near Mutharasanallur at an estimate of Rs.32 crore to protect the ground water table and city's drinking water sources, as the Cauvery river bed is being heavily exploited for drinking water schemes for various towns. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a horticulture college and research institute, exclusive for women, at Navalurkuttapattu at an investment of Rs.40 crore. The college would have an intake of 40 to meet the future demand for horticulturists. Among the other major projects announced by Ms.Jayalalithaa was the upgradation of the 33/11KV power sub-stations at Srirangam, Thiruvanaikovil and Pettavaithalai into 110 KV sub-stations at a cost of Rs.39.50 crore and said her government has taken steps to overcome the power shortage.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for various projects to strengthen the road infrastructure in the constituency, 15 new bridges are to come up in various places at an investment of Rs.21.53 crore. Announcing the upgradation of 17 schools in the constituency, she said about 104 new teachers would be appointed .Health care delivery is set to get a thrust in the constituency. Apart from a new block to accommodate the women's ward and other departments at a cost of Rs.2 crore, the hospital would also get an air-conditioned mortuary at an investment of about Rs.19.43 lakh. Additional specialist doctors and resident medical officers are to be posted at the hospital soon and that the hospital would get latest equipment, including two new dialysis units and a ventilator, at a cost of Rs.1.55 crore. A new 30-bedded primary health centre would be built at Pettavaithalai and the Inamkulathur PHC would be upgraded into a 30-bedded hospital and two new PHCs would be built at Somarasampettai and Maravanur and the Andhanallur and Nagamangalam Primary Health Centres would get own buildings.SEVAI SHG Federation got a revolving fund of Rs.100000 for each federation in Kambarasampettai and Somarasampettai of Srirangam Constituency.-Govin
