SEVAI –SHGs to accord a rousing reception to Chief Minister Ms.J.Jayalalithaa.

TIRUCHI: SEVAI Self Help Groups in Allur and other parts of Srirangam constituency in Andanallur and Manikandam are waiting to accord a rousing reception to Chief Minister Ms.J.Jayalalithaa, who will be visiting these villages on 20th and 21st,June 2011 on a maiden visit to after taking over the reigns of the State last month.Ms.Jayalalithaa is the first Chief Minister to be elected from a constituency in central region. The Self Help Groups in Allur and other parts of Srirangam constituency in Andanallur and Manikandam and school children of SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Residential school of differently abled children in SEVAI Allur and the surrounding areas which formed the Srirangam Assembly constituency, are  anxiously waiting for the visit of Ms.Jayalalithaa ever since she  returned back to power, are delighted and feel that the visit promises a new beginning for the constituency with opportunity for an overall development of the villages.  The Self Help groups organizer Ms.P.Vanitha expressed the SHGs satisfaction of announcements made by Ms.Jayalaithaa on Sunday evening in the Government function organized in Srirangam such as construction of a guest house for tourists, the construction of check dam across the river Cauvery near Mutharasanallur at an estimate of Rs.32 crore to protect the ground water table and city's drinking water sources, as the Cauvery river bed is being heavily exploited for drinking water schemes for various towns. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a horticulture college and research institute, exclusive for women, at Navalurkuttapattu at an investment of Rs.40 crore. The college would have an intake of 40 to meet the future demand for horticulturists. Among the other major projects announced by Ms.Jayalalithaa was the upgradation of the 33/11KV power sub-stations at Srirangam, Thiruvanaikovil and Pettavaithalai into 110 KV sub-stations at a cost of Rs.39.50 crore and said her government has taken steps to overcome the power shortage, road infrastructure, upgradtion of schools etc.Vanitha also expressed her gratitude for raising the revolving fund to SHGs from Rs.60,000 to Rs.100000.SHG members are waiting in their villages for receiving Ms.J.Jayalalithaa on  Monday and Tuesdays.-Govin
