SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School observed World Water Day in its premises in Pettavaithalai.Earlier a safe drinking water overhead tank at a water capacity of 60000 liters had been declared open by Mr.V.Jawahar Arumugam, a noted writer and a social activist.  The School principal Mrs. Chitra BalaSubramanian welcomed the gathering and gave her introductory address underlining the importance of safe drinking water and sanitation message for school pupils; the life saving message, Helath improvement and clean water supply for the school. In his key note address, Mr.V.Jawahar Arumugam expressed his happiness for declaring open a safe drinking water overhead tank for providing drinking water around 2000 students and the associated population and further said, “Access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities ensures improved health of the people and protect them, particularly the children, from a number of water and sanitation related diseases. Schools are places where children actively stay for most of the day time and therefore for healthy and conducive learning environment, children need safe water for drinking and hand washing, and safe and friendly-to-use sanitation facilities.
