Srirangam area farmers are in Organic agriculture

SEVAI has formed Self Help Group farmers Kalanjium association in 5 villages in which there are 106 farmers enrolled as members of it with the support of PVF. These Self Help Group farmers are given training in organic agriculture, provided seeds and bio-pest and bio-fertilizers. Many Self Help Group farmers in Trichy Srirangam Arumbuhalnagar area express their desire to switch over to organic farming.SEVAI has identified the interested women from SHGs to undertake this programme and organized trainings to them in two batches consisting of 100 women in vermi compost. In association with PVF, SEVAI Kalanjium has motivated the farmers to opt for organic farming. The SEVAI-Kalanjium has got wide range of trainers in agriculture, horticulture and business development professionals like K, Devendran of SEVAI, Dr.(Mrs).Benjamine Oberoi,a social scientist  and T.Vanitha etc.SEVAI has established a training centre in Arumbuhalnagar with all the infrastructural facilities for conducting skill training and entrepreneurship development programmes. As a part of this SEVAI provided trainings in nursery rising, organic manure, preparation of bio-pest and fertilizer etc. The SEVAI is having very good rapport to provide support services to the new generation entrepreneurs. SEVAI is committed to the cause of protecting our natural resources and planet earth. It undertakes awareness programmes on global warming, climate change, desertification, solid waste management and action programmes like tree planting in school campuses, afforestation at Thottiyapatty, Dasilnaikanoor and Kakayampatty villages, raising tree saplings, and distribution of seeds.
